Notes
--------------
1. Anything that is in the green grassy zones surrounding Ponyville proper (i.e. not within a stone's throw of other located houses so I can gauge probable distances) is a rough placement. Examples of rough placement include the entirety of Sweet Apple Acres, Fluttershy's, etc. It's probably in that general direction and placement compared to the other items on the map, but it could be within a very large range of distances from the other objects.

2. The largest change to the map this time around is actually in the outskirts of Ponyville. In the interest of scale, Canterlot, Cloudsdale, etc. have been removed, leaving just Ponyville and its immediate surroundings. On the other hoof, Sweet Apple Acres, the Everfree, and a handful of other items have been thoroughly adjusted to match the official Equestria map and various other features that have come to light (My apologies to Ms. Faust).

3. The (few remaining) dark tan lines in the middle of town are possible building locations. There are still locations that we haven't seen yet (or I missed), so these lines are my best guesses as to where buildings will go once we do see that segment of road.

And YES you can use this map for whatever you like. I don't own MLP:FiM or anything in it, so that handles the legal side of things. And I want people to use the map for whatever purposes they can think of (the crazier the better) so that handles the personal side of things. Anywho, here's to hoping this helps everypony with their projects. I'm looking forward to seeing what turns up. :D

A lot of people don't consider that canon. Even so, it's always a good idea to have references from the show showing its location.

Say, what about the carrot-themed house next to Sweet Apple Acres' barn? I assume Carrot Top/Golden Harvest lives there so it could be a separate farm altogether.

Sorry mate, but that's Apple property (not to mention probably the Apple family's home). If you'll take a closer look at the decorations you'll notice that there's also a radish on the railing, disrupting the completely carrot theme. The Apples farm a variety of crops in addition to apples including pumpkins, carrots, cabbages, corn, etc. so it makes sense that they'd have at least some non-apple decorations (like that pumpkin float in One Bad Seed). In Apple Family Reunion we see Applejack actually utilizing the vegetable themed house so we know they have at least some connection to the place, and in Too Many Pinkie Pies we see Carrot Top apparently living inside a normal Ponyville house. In terms of spatial evidence, if you analyze the size of the barn and the interior architecture, you find that there's no possible way for the Apple family bedrooms/kitchen/living room to fit inside the barn (despite the fact the animator's have used the barn's windows for that function). There's literally just too much barn to fit anything else in there (we can see all the way to the curved and roof shaped rafters in several episodes from season 1 to season 3). On the other hoof, the architectural shape of the Carrot/Barrel house pretty much perfectly matches the layout of the interior of the Apple home. Long story short, we don't have any evidence directly saying that it's Carrot Top's home other than a single carrot on the roof, but there's a pretty strong chance that it does belong to the Apples in some form or fashion.

Those are all good points, but taking the fact that what the show's crew does with certain things in each episode, such as placement of all kinds, is pretty much random. That means all that the Apple family needs could be inside that one barn.

In relation to a fandom point of view, that carrot(/turnip) tower is the most likely place for Carrot Top to live, since we see her as a farmer, the apple orchards are pretty much the only Ponyville farmland we've seen, and that building would suit her really well. But again, that's just head-canon.

Ponyville has only ONE windmill, as shown by Lesson Zero which shows all of Ponyville from a zoomed out view.

That's what I thought too for the longest time, hence why I kept moving the dang thing around (to the NE in the original Season 1 map, then to the SW in the Season 2 map). Then One Bad Apple happened...

(Interior of Ponyville looking out) Look at the episode Green Isn't Your Color about 10:45. You should have a pair of scenes involving Carrot Top and company at a magazine stand with the windmill in the background of the second scene. Then compare this particular street to the area around the windmill in One Bad Apple. No possible way they can mix without clashing with the terrain and Sugarcube Plaza.

(Exterior of Ponyville looking in) Looking at Lesson Zero around the 17:20 mark we can see the windmill from the Pink Tree Plains area. From various episodes, we know that this location is a giant flattish plain. However, One Bad Apple (12:50 and various other locales) shows that the area directly beyond the windmill contains a giant lake (probably bigger than I have shown on the map) and several large hills. Needless to say, this doesn't combine all that well. In addition, every zoomed out shot of the windmill from Lesson Zero does not contain the lake, so that's an additional problem.

There's one additional feature I should point out: If the windmill in Lesson Zero is the windmill I've marked on the NE side of Ponyville, then of course you can't see the windmill on the SW corner. It's blocked by countless buildings AND is behind a hill/cliff (See One Bad Apple) from that perspective. It's the same reason why you can't see the school (minus the cliff of course).

Long story short, we know for a fact that there is a windmill to the NE of Ponyville due to the theme song and the Official Map of Equestria. We also know for a fact that there is a windmill to the SW of Sugarcube corner due to a combination of One Bad Apple and Luna Eclipsed. All the other facts are just icing on the cake. Hope that clears things up for you! ^^
